If you have a Canadian Forces Certificate of Military Achievement with a Qualification Level 5 (QL5) or Developmental Period 2 (DP2) rating in one of nine eligible military trades, you can apply to have it matched to a civilian trade through a streamlined Trade Equivalency Assessment – you will not need to provide detailed evidence of on-the-job experience and trade skills or references. When Skilled Trades Ontario has verified your qualifications, you will be approved to challenge the certifying exam to obtain a Certificate of Qualification. Additionally, to support veterans in their transition from military to civilian life, Skilled Trades Ontario provides an exemption from assessment fees.
